Keynote speaker is Jen Guarino, Vice President, Shinola
Ms. Guarino knows Shinola – a company risen from the humble maker of boot polish to a powerhouse manufacturer of luxury watches as well as bicycles and leather goods. But Shinola is no ordinary manufacturer – it is a True Solution to some of the greatest challenges of our time. Shinola’s founders deliberately chose to locate in city of great need – and great potential: Detroit. They purposefully set out to create career-wage jobs in a corporate culture of unrivaled transparency and community commitment. And they launched the iconic heritage Shinola brand fully realized, with a made-in-USA mystique taking the luxury market by storm. Shinola shows the way to something truly new, truly American, and truly inspiring.
Shinola handicrafts watches, bicycles and leather goods yet they are no ordinary manufacturer - they provide a True Solution. When everything come together – vision, timing, resources – a True Solution occurs. WWBIC’s vision is a thriving, robust economy that produces new and permanent quality jobs (many with the title of “Business Owner”) and a virtually unlimited diversity of businesses – large, small, micro.
